Oakley has launched its Ellipse 50th Anniversary sunglasses to celebrate 50 years of design innovation. This exclusive model blends the brand’s rich legacy with future-focused features, offering a bold new take on eyewear shaped by decades of technological advancement.
A Fusion of Past, Present, and Future
The Ellipse 50th Anniversary design brings together three eras in one unique frame. It features curved lines from the bold styles of the 1990s. It also includes a modern stem jog inspired by Oakley’s Radar EV model. At the core is a futuristic lens shape created using PhysioMorphic™ Geometry.
This special frame is shaped like the brand’s Ellipse logo, making it instantly recognisable. According to Oakley’s Vice President of Design, Nick Garfias, “The Ellipse 50th Anniversary puts our most iconic branding front and centre. It’s a clear signal of where we’ve come from and where we’re headed.”
Iconic Styling with Advanced Technology
Finished in a Midas Fleck colourway, the frame blends black lucid detailing with gold accents. The sunglasses also feature Oakley’s Prizm™ 24K lenses, known for sharp contrast and high-performance clarity. This model highlights both form and function, making it ideal for collectors and fans alike.
Moreover, the eyewear is designed to stand out. It feels futuristic while remaining true to the brand’s DNA. As Garfias explains, Oakley products should be recognisable even without a logo. The Ellipse 50th Anniversary stays true to that idea.
