Polo Ralph Lauren has introduced a new limited-edition capsule paying tribute to Oak Bluffs, a coastal town in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. Known for its deep-rooted cultural ties with Black communities, Oak Bluffs has long served as a summer refuge for generations of families, scholars and beachgoers. The latest collection highlights this legacy with pieces inspired by the town’s storied traditions and timeless style.
Building on its past collaborations with historically Black colleges and universities, including Morehouse and Spelman Colleges, Polo Ralph Lauren expands its narrative. This time, the brand transitions its signature collegiate look from campus lawns to beachfront gatherings, offering apparel that blends heritage, leisure and identity.
Classic Style Meets Maritime Influence
The Oak Bluffs collection presents a range of garments that reflect New England’s nautical charm and academic legacy. It includes embroidered twill jackets, coastal coats designed for sailing, sun-faded sweaters, and maritime-themed accents. Every design echoes the history of Oak Bluffs and the sartorial choices of its longtime residents.
The lineup also celebrates school pride, featuring collegiate motifs tied to Morehouse and Spelman. Signature pieces honour the Maroon Tiger and Jaguar mascots, symbols of academic excellence and cultural pride. This crossover reinforces the strong connection between the Vineyard’s summer culture and alumni from these institutions.
A Tribute to Identity and Belonging
In Ralph Lauren’s own words, “This collection is about more than a charming coastal town; it’s a story of the American dream. Oak Bluffs’ unique history, traditions and sense of community deeply inspire me and speak to what we are all searching for – a place where you can be free, uncontrived, joyful and truly at home.”
The Polo Ralph Lauren for Oak Bluffs capsule will launch on July 24. It will be available online, in select Polo Ralph Lauren stores, and on the campuses of Morehouse and Spelman Colleges.
