Honda Racing Corporation, in partnership with Amalgam Collection, has unveiled an exclusive scale model of the legendary RA272 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Honda’s first Formula 1 victory. The original car, driven by Richie Ginther, made history at the 1965 Mexico Grand Prix, securing the first F1 win for a Japanese manufacturer.

Two Sizes, One Historic Detail

The hand-built models will be available in two limited editions:

  • 1:8 scale – only 30 units, priced at $28,995 USD
  • 1:18 scale – 300 units, priced at $1,735 USD

Each model incorporates over 1,600 precision-engineered components, including an exact replica of the 1.5L V12 engine. Every piece comes with a display case, a numbered certificate of authenticity, and a commemorative booklet signed by Honda Racing Corporation President Koji Watanabe.

Launching at Monterey Car Week

The collection will debut on August 15 at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, during Monterey Car Week, before becoming available online. Crafted using digital scans of the original RA272 housed at the Honda Collection Hall in Motegi, Japan, the models showcase exceptional detail, from the painted livery to every intricate engine component.

Honda described the RA272 replica as “an invitation to own a piece of our motorsport history”, reinforcing its significance as more than just a collectible.
