The Armoury has joined forces with independent watchmaker Ressence to create the TYPE 9 ARM “Scattering Sun”, a limited edition timepiece that reinterprets Ressence’s most classically proportioned design with subtle sartorial elegance.
Crafted in a 39mm polished Grade 5 titanium case, the watch weighs only 39 grams yet exudes presence through its warm salmon-toned dial. The dial, finished with PVD treatment and sandblasting, offers a rich tactile quality, while a fluted bezel functions as a minute track and frames Ressence’s signature Orbital Convex System display. Completing the design, a chocolate suede strap with exposed stitching nods to The Armoury’s tailoring heritage.
Ressence founder Benoît Mintiens credited the collaboration for prompting the brand to “explore proportions and details we would never have considered alone — a smaller scale, more classical decoration, and colours rooted in traditional watchmaking,” while retaining Ressence’s philosophy of functional purity. Reflecting on the project, The Armoury’s co-founder Mark Cho explained that his background in tailoring influenced a watch designed “to live with a suit,” balancing scale, texture, warmth, and understated elegance.
Strictly limited to 20 pieces worldwide, the TYPE 9 ARM “Scattering Sun” is priced at $19,000 USD / $148,200 HKD. It will be available exclusively through The Armoury’s online store and its boutiques in Hong Kong and New York, making it a sought-after collector’s piece that seamlessly merges the worlds of fine menswear and avant-garde horology.
