A Season for Regrounding, an autumn 2022 event from Abu Dhabi’s in-house arts and design centre, will include two significant exhibitions and a wide-ranging public programme that will emphasis imaginative and group efforts to re-engage with the natural world.
The exhibition On Foraging: Food Knowledge and Environmental Imaginaries in The UAE’s Landscape, which was first displayed at the United Arab Emirates Pavilion at Expo 2020, will be included in the programme, which runs from September 21 through December 25. This fall, a larger audience can view the group presentation, which includes fresh commissions and investigation into food security in the UAE. It will take place inside Warehouse421’s gallery spaces.
Let me tell you something, the first institutional solo exhibition for the UAE-based artist Mohamed Khalid, will debut during the fall 2022 programme. The exhibition includes seven new commissioned works created this year as part of Warehouse421’s artistic development exhibition programme.
More than 35 speeches, seminars, symposia, and special events that provide a thoughtful study of imaginative and group approaches to thinking about climate action are included in the autumn 2022 schedule. The season highlights alternative ways of existing within our natural ecosystem that challenge anthropomorphic viewpoints, bringing back direct, bodily, and tangible engagement with traditional sources of wisdom. It is one of the largest and most robust public engagement programmes ever presented by Warehouse421!
Partner organizations like Services for Educational Development, Research and Awareness for Inclusion (SEDRA), Bombay Institute for Critical Analysis and Research (BICAR), The Institute of Emerging Art, 100/100: Hundred Best Arabic Posters, Gulf Photo Plus, and others are participating in the season, which was developed by Warehouse421.

According to Faisal Al Hassan, the director of Warehouse421, “this season at Warehouse421, we’ve decided to extend it beyond our exhibition space and into our public programming, engaging audiences of all ages and backgrounds to consider the importance of how our ecologies and immediate natural environment influence our culture, traditions, and general ways of life. “At Warehouse421, collaboration is at the heart of all we do. We are excited to collaborate with organizations, scholars, collectives, and artists from the local and regional communities to create a programme that advances this urgent conversation through considerate and approachable community involvement.
On Foraging is a group installation that was first displayed in the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2020 and investigates what it means to constantly look for nourishing and nourishment, for both the individual and the collective, in seemingly parched areas.
With newly commissioned works and additional research, as well as a second edition of the accompanying magazine that reflects these developments, this second iteration of the show expands upon this crucial discourse. The exhibition, which was organized by Dima Srouji, Faysal Tabbarah, and Meitha Almazrooei, includes pieces by 14 regional and UAE-based artists.
The Warehouse421 Education Department created tactile publications with translations in English, Arabic, and Braille for the first time for the show. Children and adults with vision problems can use the books to explore the exhibition in an immersive and accessible manner.
