Noemi Safir is an artist born in Uruguay who moved to Israel with her parents when she was two years old. Safir decided to pursue her ambition of becoming a painter at the age of 40. Women figures in her large-scale paintings are a reflection of herself, depicting episodes from her life that brought her to where she is now, conveying power and desire and a wide variety of emotions.
They represent her effort to accept Safir’s freedom as a woman and an artist without apologies or reservations. Safir’s painting style is characterized by picture fragmentation and a vibrant color palette. As if to declare, “Yes, I am attractive and youthful, alive and full of passion, driven by emotions and desire to be myself in all my glory,” her pictures are captivating and strong.
She eventually quit up and even took some significant moves oppositely. She returned to painting around the age of 40. When she talked about her art, she became enthralled and radiated. She didn’t give up this time. She chose to abandon practically everything she knew to pursue a long-held goal of painting.
Today, being able to inspire others through her art, to make them feel excited, and to bring happy colors into their homes and hearts brings her immense joy and satisfaction. She believes that her desire to be seen and understood as she had a significant impact on her path. She enjoys painting female figures in various settings. The majority of the women are self-portraits that portray situations from her life that have led her to where she is now. They represent her fight to accept her independence as a woman and an artist without apology or reservation.
Her lofty goal is to move people’s hearts through her art and story. Everything she crafts is a reflection of herself and her long journey of discovering and understanding who we truly are.
