The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF) 2025 has unveiled a suite of pioneering cultural, digital, and educational programmes as part of its 34th edition, running from 26 April to 5 May at the ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi. Organised by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC) under the theme ‘Knowledge Illuminates Our Community’, the event reinforces the UAE’s commitment to a thriving creative economy, welcoming over 1,400 exhibitors from 96 countries and offering more than 2,000 events across literature, technology, and the arts.
Expanding Global Reach with First-Time Participants
This year’s fair sees the debut participation of 21 countries—spanning four continents and speaking more than 25 languages—highlighting ADIBF’s expanding global appeal and strategic value in accessing Arab markets. These new entrants include Brazil, Mexico, Singapore, Slovakia, and Armenia, among others, underlining the fair’s evolution into a global publishing nexus.
The participation of over 25 literary agents from 13 countries and the presence of 28 international pavilions further solidify ADIBF’s position as a vital platform for cultural diplomacy and professional collaboration in the publishing sector.
Smart Access and Immersive Cultural Corners
ADIBF 2025 is leveraging digital transformation to enhance visitor access with the launch of smart entry gates. Emirates ID-scanning and online registration offer seamless access in alignment with the UAE’s national digital strategies.
Among the standout new programmes is Al-Mutanabbi Street, a reimagined homage to Baghdad’s historic literary district, featuring rare and heritage Iraqi publications. Equally compelling is the Poetry Nights Majlis, where poets from across the Arab world and beyond engage in cross-cultural poetic dialogues.
The Under the Ghaf’s Shade corner offers an open-air platform where authors engage with readers in intimate literary sessions beneath the national tree, creating a memorable storytelling experience.
World’s Cuisine, another unique highlight, fuses literature with culinary heritage, showcasing recipes from the ALC’s Kalima Project for Translation and exploring the deep ties between food and narrative tradition.
Youth Empowerment, Academic Engagement, and Digital Creativity
ADIBF 2025 has introduced several initiatives to foster youth participation and academic synergy. The Pioneers of Arabic Publishing initiative enables young leaders to moderate fair sessions, building their communication skills and connecting them with influential writers and thinkers. This initiative also honours veteran Arab publishers for their contributions to the regional publishing landscape.
The Educational Roadshow takes the fair’s content directly to Emirati universities, where authors and thought leaders lead interactive lectures on literature, innovation, and culture, reinforcing the nexus between academia and the cultural industry.
In response to rapid digitalisation, the Digitising Creativity Conference explores how technology is reshaping creative expression and offering artists and publishers new opportunities in the digital sphere.
Another major launch is the Community Campaign to Support Sustainable Reading, which aims to embed reading as a daily habit within society, supporting the UAE’s broader Year of Community goals and encouraging lifelong learning.
With its dynamic mix of global exhibitors, technological innovation, youth-focused programmes, and literary heritage, the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2025 has once again cemented its status as a global cultural hub. These diverse initiatives not only reflect the ALC’s dedication to enriching Arab culture but also align with the UAE’s vision of fostering human capital and advancing knowledge as pillars of sustainable development.
