Marsa Mina, in Mina Zayed, next to the Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal, has been hosting families ever since its inauguration. A children’s play area, restaurants, food trucks, and 1,163 meters of street art murals can all be found at this waterfront lifestyle destination.
It’s a well-liked destination for tourists arriving by cruise ship, giving them a lively pit stop and a colorful introduction to Abu Dhabi.
The mural project, to which artist Talal Shehab contributed, covers the walls that line the roads. “The project aims to beautify the Abu Dhabi tourist gate, considering the Mina is one of the important tourist gates in the United Arab Emirates,” he says.
According to Shehab, the paintings’ themes and concepts are drawn from various civilizations in order “to confirm that the UAE is the country of all humanity.”
The project also included Tony Martin, also known as Toons One, as an illustrator. He produced four works of art in various styles. One depicts a man, a woman, and a little infant as the sun, moon, and star in Islamic culture. “I created them in an abstract way utilizing sacred geometry, calligraphy, and landscapes to demonstrate the limitless potential of humanity, which I believe embodies the UAE’s spirit and its future vision.”
Along its length, different artistic styles and techniques can be observed, ranging from impressionism to modern art, calligraphy to symbolism, and abstract to realism.
