Ko Byung Jun is a Korean artist born in 1981. His paintings are not in the conventional sense. Their uncommon and exceptional representation is what drives people to his art. With his unrefined drawing and accidental watercolor painting, the artist portrays his worries and loneliness to a variety of characters. The pattern used by Ko Byung to express his emotions is beyond a layman’s imagination.

In 2013, he graduated from Kyung Hee University’s Department of Fine Art with an M.A. and a Graduate School diploma. Throughout his life, he has been in a variety of productions. A few of the exhibitions that showed his work as a recognized artist are SK energy-‘wallpaper advertisement in 2007, A4 River Group Exhibition, K.U.M.A., The Earth Group Exhibition, K.U.M.A., A4 River Group Exhibition, K.U., The B.T.A. Exhibition at the Gangneung Art Museum, among others.

In 2012, “The Dance,” his first solo exhibition, was held. He was a finalist in the Indie-Room anifest of artists and the Indie-Screening in 2013. In 2014, he was a finalist in the Seoul New Media Festival’s Finalist Screening. “I want to get out of the classic style of painting. Through watercolor techniques highlighting unrefined drawing and coincidence, I try to express my anxious and lonely emotions,” says Ko Byung. The artist communicates the loneliness and dread of modern people through his portraits, which are considered images of himself.
