In homage to denim culture, Acne Studios unveils an audacious exploration of rebellion and allure in their FW24 collection.
Emanating the rebellious spirit of denim culture, Acne Studios channels a fusion of cyber-biker aesthetics with a dash of kitsch cuteness. Neon hues collide with classic biker elements, intertwined with grunge details and psychedelic prints inspired by rave and club culture. Creative Director Jonny Johansson encapsulates the essence: “Denim, inherently, has a rebellious aura. It’s provocative, it’s rugged.”
Yves Tumor Collaboration:
American musician Yves Tumor serves as the embodiment of the collection’s ethos, constantly pushing the boundaries of contemporary music, art, and culture. Johansson describes Tumor as the perfect muse, seamlessly blending space-age cyber psychedelia with raw rock energy. Their presence infuses the collection with a dynamic spectrum, reflecting the multifaceted nature of true rebellion.
Color Palette:
A striking contrast of black with vibrant neon pops of pink, green, purple, and orange dominates the palette. Denim reigns in various shades of blue, while pastel hues infuse sweetness and softness, with pink taking centre stage this season.
How It’s Worn:
Contrasting proportions define the silhouette, from low-waisted to high-waisted, skin-tight to oversized. Micro tank tops and cropped shearling jackets juxtapose with maxi boots and ultra-baggy denim, creating a layered, individualistic aesthetic. Sporty ski elements add functionality, with straps extending the length of the body. Denim silhouettes are reimagined, featuring round shapes reminiscent of the early 2000s and low-waist flared trumpet legs.
Fabrics:
The interplay between hard and soft textures elevates biker staples like leather and denim, juxtaposed with fluffy faux fur and delicate voile. Denim transforms, from an oily, worn-in feel to adorned embroideries and paint marks, offering an authentic yet elevated look.
Prints and Graphics:
An eclectic mix of prints merges cyber psychedelic designs with biker and punk motifs, from trompe l’oeil necklaces to delicate flower photographs. Traditional motorbike graphics receive a kitsch makeover, featuring spray-painted angel wings and AI-generated cats. The iconic Acne Studios logo undergoes playful transformations, while mini bows add a whimsical touch to classic pieces.
Accessories:
Fluffy faux fur hats, mittens, and scarves draw inspiration from Kawaii street-style culture, while mohair hairy yarn adds a fuzzy element to squared beanies and accessories.
Footwear:
Voluminous knee-high shearling boots and maxi mules exude motorcycle-inspired flair, while black derbies with a turned-up toe offer a sleek yet edgy option.
Bags:
From micro-sized to maxi-sized, Acne Studios presents a range of trompe l’oeil totes adorned with keychains and charms. The iconic Platt bag receives an update with studs, heart charms, and pink detailing, while new models like the Musubi and Multipocket offer fresh interpretations in playful colors and finishes.
Acne Studios FW24 collection epitomizes a daring juxtaposition of rebellion and sophistication, inviting wearers to embrace their individuality with fearless style.
