Acne Studios has officially opened a striking new three-storey flagship store in Tokyo’s upscale Aoyama district. Designed in partnership with Stockholm-based architecture studio Halleroed, the store reflects the Swedish fashion house’s unique aesthetic—merging brutalist minimalism with rich artistic detail.

A Journey Through Texture and Art

The store offers more than just retail. It delivers a sensory experience, drawing inspiration from Tokyo’s compact, multi-layered cityscape. The interior is crafted in signature pink granite, used across walls, floors, and furniture to create a cohesive visual narrative.

Inside, custom lighting by Benoit Lalloz creates a rhythmic, gallery-like ambience. The space is furnished with Max Lamb-designed seating made from woven fabrics and glossy pink patent leather—offering a juxtaposition of softness and shine. Adding to the artistic atmosphere are sculptural mannequins by British artist Daniel Silver.

Exclusive Collaboration with Takuro Kuwata

Creative Director Jonny Johansson partnered with acclaimed Japanese ceramicist Takuro Kuwata for a unique installation. Kuwata’s colourful ceramic objects are showcased throughout the flagship, reinforcing Acne Studios’ long-standing dialogue with Japanese craft.

To mark the opening, Kuwata also collaborated on a limited-edition capsule collection, reimagining Acne Studios staples—especially denim—with a Japanese twist. This exclusive line is available only at the Aoyama store.

Full Collection, Local Relevance

The flagship stocks Acne Studios’ complete men’s and women’s lines, including apparel, accessories, shoes, bags, and eyewear. The launch further strengthens Tokyo’s position as a vital international hub for the brand.

Located opposite the Prada Aoyama flagship, this three-level concept store is more than a shopping destination—it’s a creative statement celebrating art, architecture, and Acne’s bold identity.
