The latest addition to the Signatures of the Sun collection balances luminous jasmine with smoky undertones.
Acqua di Parma introduces “Gelsomino a Freddo,” a new eau de parfum that celebrates the ancient art of cold enfleurage. By pressing freshly harvested jasmine blossoms onto purified shea butter over repeated 48-hour cycles, master perfumers preserve the delicate olfactory molecules. This meticulous process, reflected in the name “a Freddo” (meaning “cold”), produces a nuanced jasmine essence that bridges traditional craftsmanship with contemporary fragrance design.
The scent begins with a zesty blend of Italian lemon, pink pepper, and artemisia. It then unfolds into a heart of jasmine enfleurage, smoky black tea, and orris concrete. Finally, the base of guaiac wood, cypriol, and patchouli lends warmth and structure. These layers create a dynamic contrast, balancing floral brightness with smouldering undertones. “Creating this fragrance presented a double challenge,” explains perfumer Daphne Bugey, “first in balancing these contrasting elements while elevating the jasmine enfleurage extraction,” and second in “finding the middle ground between the floral and woody elements of the composition” to achieve a truly gender-neutral scent.
Acqua di Parma has also refreshed the Signatures of the Sun bottle, featuring a larger hatbox and a redesigned label. Alongside “Gelsomino a Freddo,” the collection now includes Zafferano Hand and Body Wash, Body Cream, 200-gram candles, and a 180 ml diffuser. These new rituals, together with the fragrance, will soon be available through Acqua di Parma, offering a complete sensory experience that celebrates heritage and modern elegance.
