Cine2022, Advanced Media’s biannual digital cinema community, launched a new edition to commemorate the company’s 20th anniversary. Advanced Media’s new Shaikh Zayed Road headquarters presented a series of eight 90-minute courses on a variety of production issues, including how to shoot in 8K, HDR, color grading, and using RGB lighting in the studio, over the course of three days from March 17 to 19.
The workshops drew participants from all around the UAE, as well as Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, and Qatar. Because the seminars were so well-received, Advanced Media decided to stream all eight of them live on Facebook in order to reach a bigger audience.
“I’ve spoken to all of the teachers, and we’ve come to a unified opinion that our participants’ level of knowledge and skill is very clearly higher than prior years, and that is a positive sign,” said Kaveh Farnam, CEO of Advanced Media.
Despite the fact that the community event was vendor-agnostic by nature, Advanced Media represented a number of well-known businesses. Representatives from well-known companies like Sony and Manfrotto, as well as well-known manufacturers such as RED and Zeiss, were on hand.
On two designated sets, a variety of cinematography equipment, ranging from cameras and lenses to audio devices, was displayed, demonstrating the equipment’s versatility and capacity. Participants got the opportunity to network with brand representatives and engage in the discourse during the seminars, which were hosted in Advanced Media’s training venues. Advanced Media arranged for Middle Eastern cinematographers to have an exclusive hands-on experience with Sony’s latest high-end filmmaking camera, the Venice 2, which was unveiled at Cine2022. Later this year, Venice 2 will be launched.
In honor of Advanced Media’s 20th anniversary, the sets were created to invoke nostalgia for the progression and history of entertainment and movies. Akram Miknas, an amateur collector and the founder of Dubai’s History of Cinema Museum, loaned two Mutoscopes from 1900 to Advanced Media, among other surprises. Two extraordinary artifacts were displayed at Cine2022, an event dedicated to the newest innovations in digital cinema, reminding audiences of an exciting turning point in the history of storytelling.
