Who doesn’t enjoy a beautiful lakeside picnic with a summer breeze, a picnic basket, and the companionship of friends and family? To meet the demand, Abu Dhabi’s Department of Municipalities and Transport announced the opening of Al Wathba Lake Camp, a new camping and picnic spot.
This multi-purpose camping facility offers a naturalistic camping and picnic site surrounding a man-made lake, as well as a bicycle track, for those who love camping or picnicking in the open.
The new location, which is tucked away in the woods, has 13 distinct campsites with views of the lake or the desert, and can accommodate up to 120 people. Tents and recreational vehicles (RVs) can also be set up to enjoy the vista.
There are also 24 picnic spots with designated barbeque spaces, as well as 3,000 square metres of amusement and meeting space for more than 500 guests per day.
A 1,400-meter walking and running trail around the lake, a new 1,200-meter cycle track, an activity rental centre, two volleyball courts, and seven playgrounds are among the recreational and sporting activities. It also offers a pontoon stroll and two observation platforms from which to take in the panoramic views.
Commercial activities and utilities such as food trucks, cafes, and rental services will be held in the future, adding to the overall experience. At the new location, basic amenities such as parking, a first-aid unit, and restrooms have been given.
