In order to commemorate the opening of its flagship store in The Dubai Mall, the upscale Swiss watchmaker Vacheron Constantin has artistically collaborated with Emirati designer Aljoud Lootah. The United Arab Emirates’ cultural heritage and the mastery of the watchmaking trade are intertwined in the designs.
Aljoud’s fascinating color scheme, which emphasizes the hues of blue, gold, and silver, embraces the brightness of the area. She imagines that the designs will be blue to represent the clean skies, gold to represent the sand dunes, and silver with highlights to represent the skylines of the United Arab Emirates. The designs gain greater depth and meaning as each color is reflected via various materials and textures.
The boutique exhibits the highest standard of customer-centered service by creating an engaging client experience. Clients are given the opportunity to view an unexpected level of artistry by being encouraged to interact with the on-site master watchmaker at the watchmaking bench. The custom strap station offers customizable possibilities for engraving and embossing to increase the degree of personalization. Last but not least, a Métiers d’Art collection discovery table is positioned beneath a famous dome to display the most coveted watches, anchored in brand history.
The Maison honors the area and art through its partnership with Aljoud Lootah. The art of needlework, which has Emirati roots, was chosen as a representation of creativity and culture. It was employed to draw attention to the minute details, utilizing carefully chosen beads and conventional techniques to create tales that leave a lasting feeling of heritage.
Aljoud Lootah’s works are on display throughout the flagship store, including at the atrium entrance and the three specially made installations in the exterior windows. The “Anatomy of Beauty,” the yearly subject of Vacheron Constantin, is interpreted differently in each of the four limited-edition pieces. Using a falcon as an example, Aljoud Lootah’s exquisite attention to detail demonstrates a definite connection between precise watchmaking and the perfection seen in nature.
