From November 11 through November 27, the first-ever “Ancient Kingdoms Festival” will take place in the three interconnected ancient oases of Khaybar, Tayma, and AlUla in northwest Saudi Arabia.
The highly anticipated AlUla Moments mega-festival will have a jam-packed schedule of distinctive activities for guests of all ages, according to a statement released on Thursday by the event’s organizers.
Through outdoor exhibitions, custom experiences, and tours, visitors will be able to learn more about the history of the ancient kingdoms.
To emphasize the region’s impressive prehistoric architecture, there will also be after-dark light shows, sunrise carriage rides, hot-air balloon and helicopter flights, as well as food pop-ups, historical re-enactments, and guided hikes through the oases.
The history of the area and its relationship to the rest of the globe have been formed for thousands of years by the ancient kingdoms of AlUla, Khaybar, and Tayma.
While AlUla has been welcoming tourists to its historic sites since it reopened in 2020, including the Hegra UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Festival will also open Khaybar and Tayma, both of which have significant historical significance.
One of AlUla’s most eagerly awaited tourist destinations is Hegra, a UNESCO World Heritage site that was once a bustling Nabataean metropolis and an important junction on the Incense Road.
Dadan will also organize family-friendly archaeological tours that give guests the chance to speak with knowledgeable archaeologists who are actively making discoveries there.
Jabal Ikmah has been compared to a massive open-air library. It is a mountain close to the ancient city of Dadan and the former capital of the Dananite and Lihyanite kingdoms. The festival will also feature a session for kids at the Ancient Inscriptions Academy as well as an evening tour through candle-lit pathways that displays the ancient civilizations’ artifacts and the religious ceremonies they documented on the canyon’s rock wall.
