In celebration of World Creativity and Innovation Day, A.R.M. Holding has unveiled the fifth edition of its Children’s Programme, bringing art-based learning to schools across the UAE. This milestone initiative, launched in 2021, has already engaged over 30,000 students. For the first time, the programme introduces a cross-cultural artist pairing, uniting Nigerian artist Peju Alatise with Emirati artist-educator Alia Hussain Lootah.
This year’s theme, “The Future of Water,” invites young minds to explore environmental awareness through creativity. Running until June 2025, the workshops challenge children aged 5 to 17 to express their reflections on water using paint and mixed-media collage on clear plexiglass sheets. As the water stored within the sheets reshapes their visuals, it symbolises the evolving relationship between humans and natural resources.
International and Local Artists Unite for Cultural Dialogue
Peju Alatise, renowned for representing Nigeria at the 2017 Venice Biennale, brings a global lens to the project. She works alongside Alia Hussain Lootah, co-founder of the Dubai-based Medaf Studio, which fosters artistic expression across generations. Together, they guide students in using art as a means of discovery and dialogue.

“Water is central to life. Through this project, we invite children to treat it not just as a resource, but as a creative medium,” said Alatise. “The children lead the way, using art to reveal how water shapes their environments and hopes.”
Lootah added, “In the UAE, water carries cultural weight—from the creek to traditional livelihoods. These workshops allow children to understand and express this heritage through hands-on creativity.”
Empowering Teachers and Students Through Creative Learning
The programme doesn’t stop with students. Educators will participate in a masterclass led by the artists and other experts, helping integrate flexible, arts-based learning strategies into classrooms. Additionally, a dedicated panel during Art Dubai 2025 will bring together thought leaders to discuss the evolving role of arts in education and its impact on future generations.
This initiative is spearheaded through a strategic partnership between A.R.M. Holding and Art Dubai, the region’s leading international art fair.
H.E. Mohammad Saeed Al Shehhi, CEO of A.R.M. Holding, commented:
“Our support for the arts goes beyond collecting. Through this programme, we invest in a more connected, culturally rich society. It strengthens our commitment to nurturing future leaders, artists, and changemakers.”
Benedetta Ghione, Executive Director of Art Dubai, noted:
“We’re proud to collaborate with artists and schools to create programmes that ignite curiosity. This year’s collaboration reflects Dubai’s global spirit, bringing together diverse voices to inspire creativity among children.”
Bridging Art, Culture, and Environment
By merging art and education, the A.R.M. Holding Children’s Programme fosters a deeper understanding of sustainability, cultural identity, and creative thinking. With hands-on learning and artistic guidance, children are empowered to reimagine how they interact with the world—starting with water.
