Art Dubai has recently revealed the esteemed curators for its much-anticipated 2024 event, bringing together a diverse and talented group to oversee different sections of the exhibition. Dr. Christianna Bonin, an assistant professor of art history at the American University of Sharjah, will curate Art Dubai Modern, showcasing the best of modern art. Auronda Scalera and Alfredo Cramerotti, co-directors of the curatorial platform Multicity-XXnft, have been chosen to curate the third edition of Art Dubai Digital, focusing on digital art forms. Finally, Emiliano Valdes, the chief curator of the Museum of Modern Art in Medellin, will oversee the fifth Bawwaba, which presents solo exhibitions of artworks curated within the past year or specifically for the fair.

Scheduled to take place from March 1 to 3 at Madinat Jumeirah, Art Dubai 2024 promises to be an exceptional event. The previous year’s edition showcased more than 130 exhibitors from approximately 40 countries, resulting in the strongest-ever participation of regional and international institutional representatives. The fair received widespread acclaim for its impressive lineup, attracting a diverse range of artists and art enthusiasts from around the world.

Hala Badri, the director general of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, expressed her pride in Art Dubai’s growth and development, stating that it has become a distinctive moment on the international art calendar, attracting Dubai’s brightest cultural and artistic talents each year. The economic impact report further emphasized the significance of world-class cultural programming in drawing people to this unique city.

Art Dubai has evolved over the years, originally focusing on showcasing Middle Eastern art but expanding its scope to encompass the wider Global South. As a platform for viewing and purchasing art, the exhibition features contemporary, modern, and digital gallery sections. Additionally, it includes annual artist commissions and offers collector and education programs throughout the year.

The event’s success can be attributed to its ability to attract top collectors and institutional audiences from across the UAE, the region, and beyond. With its commitment to highlighting diverse artistic expressions and promoting cultural exchange, Art Dubai has become a vibrant hub for the art world.

Art Dubai 2024 is poised to build upon the achievements of previous editions, offering a rich and immersive experience for both art enthusiasts and collectors. By bringing together exceptional curators, artists, and attendees, the event will undoubtedly contribute to the continued growth and recognition of Dubai’s flourishing art scene on the global stage.
