The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) in Dubai has collaborated with the Department of Economy and Tourism to organize the Art on Clothing Donation Boxes initiative at Expo City Dubai during the holy month of Ramadan. The initiative features the participation of eight Emirati artists, who have come together to add an artistic touch to the clothing donation boxes.
This year, the initiative aims to expand its reach and impact, following the success of previous years. Since 2012, the clothing donation boxes initiative in Dubai has provided clothing for 40,000 kids in need, and this year the collaboration aims to continue this effort by providing clothing for even more people.
The beautifully painted donation boxes will be distributed across various locations in the Emirate, reminding people of the importance of donating during the holy month of Ramadan. The artwork on the boxes is inspired by local culture and traditions and is meant to spread joy and positivity.
Abeer Al Ladani, one of the artists who participated in the initiative, said: “This initiative is one of the best experiences I have ever had because while I was drawing, so many people came up to me and asked me about it. I was so happy to share the spirit of love and giving that is so important in the UAE, especially during the holy month.”
The donated clothes will benefit the Clothes Bank initiative by the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai. The Clothes Bank collects and distributes clothing to over 350,000 people who will benefit from it.
The Art on Clothing Donation Boxes initiative is an example of the efforts being made by the UAE government to promote community service and social responsibility during Ramadan. It is also a testament to the country’s commitment to preserving its traditions and promoting local culture through art.
The initiative is a wonderful example of how art can be used to promote positive change in society. By providing a beautiful and artistic touch to clothing donation boxes, the initiative reminds us all of the importance of giving back to our community and helping those in need.
