At the Etihad Museum, Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has begun a programme series where it will showcase a variety of entertaining events and activities honouring the rich cultural legacy of the UAE.
The series, which was created by Alserkal Advisory, will offer extraordinary cultural and entertainment experiences to the museum’s visitors all year long.
Through engaging programmes at museums and historic places that honour regional cultural history, Dubai Culture is committed to increasing access to culture within society and encouraging active engagement in the emirate’s cultural and creative landscape.
According to Khulood Khaled Al Nuaimi, Manager of Events at the Etihad Museum, the programming at the museum, which is set to begin on October 7 and run through June 2023, will honour the innovative voices influencing the booming UAE cultural landscape by telling its fascinating founding narrative.
“Etihad Museum is a place of dialogue that draws visitors from all walks of life,” continued Al Nuaimi, “and the programme will provide a valuable platform to showcase the works of local talent in many fields, such as filmmaking, poetry, drawing, calligraphy, and design, in addition to inviting engaging speakers to cover a wide range of topics throughout the year. This will help establish Dubai as the world’s capital of the creative economy, a global centre for culture, an incubator for creativity, and a thriving hub for talent. It will also support the UAE’s cultural and creative industries sector.
Film screening: The programme features a monthly calendar of events and activities that improve visitors’ experiences by fostering interesting conversations and points of view. In the auditorium of the Museum, a number of films made by Emirati and resident artists as well as international directors will be screened as part of the program’s opening Museum Films series.
Museum Talks: Another component of the programme is the Museum Talks series, which brings together experts from a variety of fields for in-depth discussions with the goal of educating attendees on a variety of subjects, such as the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the Emiratis, the influence and significance of museums within society, and the design considerations for cultural infrastructure.
Visitors to the museum can also participate in a variety of activities designed to broaden their knowledge and advance their talents, such as adult workshops in various artistic disciplines like calligraphy and drawing. There will be quick-paced PechaKucha presentations, which are 20-slide presentations that last exactly 20 seconds each. The format makes the content engaging and succinct, enabling broad topics to be covered succinctly. In addition, visitors will like taking part in educational activities, such as a “treasure hunt” that lets families explore the museum in an engaging way. The schedule of events will come to a close with a performance honouring the spoken word and poetry in the museum’s visiting pavilion.
