A limited-edition collaboration between BE@RBRICK and Tamagotchi will mark 30 years since the digital pet’s 1996 debut. The release is scheduled to coincide with the “Big Tamagotchi Exhibition” at the Roppongi Museum, positioning the project as both a commercial drop and a cultural milestone. As a result, availability will be tightly controlled, with sales limited to January 7 and January 10, 2026, during the exhibition’s opening period.
Product and Design Strategy
The collaboration draws directly from the “Original Tamagotchi” series, including references to early Western releases and the “New Species Discovered!!” edition. Accordingly, the designs merge the visual identities of both brands, aligning Tamagotchi characters and BE@RBRICK figures in coordinated poses across the devices and packaging. In addition, each Tamagotchi unit is housed in a custom bear-shaped glitter case, reinforcing its positioning as a collectible rather than a mass-market toy. This approach reflects a broader trend of elevating nostalgic IP into premium lifestyle objects.
Pricing and Market Outlook
Consumers can choose between two offerings. The BE@RBRICK × Tamagotchi device is priced at ¥7,150, while the 400% BE@RBRICK figure is set at ¥19,800. Meanwhile, the exhibition will run through February 2, although the collaboration items will only be sold on the two designated dates. Consequently, demand is expected to concentrate heavily around the early January release window, particularly among collectors seeking limited-edition crossovers that blend high-end vinyl culture with 1990s digital nostalgia.
