Bugatti has officially introduced “Programme Solitaire,” a highly exclusive one-of-one customization initiative that redefines the brand’s legacy of coachbuilding. This ultra-personalised program launches with the unveiling of “Brouillard,” a bespoke coupé inspired by Ettore Bugatti’s favourite horse. While the company already offers a range of personalisation options, Solitaire pushes beyond the limits of Sur Mesure.
Unlike previous offerings, this new program limits production to just two Solitaire commissions per year. Each model will be crafted entirely from scratch, both inside and out, though based on existing Bugatti platforms. Brouillard, the inaugural model, reflects this approach in its equine-inspired, sculpture-like bodywork. Additionally, the model is powered by Bugatti’s iconic 1,600 PS W16 engine and features design cues that blur the line between automotive engineering and high art.
Brouillard: A Sculptural Tribute to Legacy
Commissioned by a devoted Bugatti collector, Brouillard is more than just a car—it is an automotive sculpture. Drawing deeply from the Bugatti family’s artistic heritage, the vehicle references the craftsmanship of Carlo Bugatti’s furniture and Rembrandt Bugatti’s bronze sculptures. This cohesive tribute extends across its design, from a cathedral-like glass canopy to green-tinted carbon fibre finishes. Moreover, the gear shifter houses a hand-crafted sculpture of Ettore Bugatti’s horse, integrating storytelling into the mechanical core of the car.
The vehicle also showcases custom tartan textiles and hand-sculpted detailing that align with Bugatti’s longstanding commitment to artistry. As a result, the Brouillard becomes not only a performance powerhouse but also a design masterpiece, reflecting the singular vision of its collector.
Reviving the Golden Age of Coachbuilding
Bugatti’s coachbuilding legacy dates back to the 1920s and ’30s, when Jean Bugatti brought bodywork production in-house. This move led to iconic creations such as the Type 57 SC Atlantic. Now, with Programme Solitaire, Bugatti seeks to revive that golden age, giving elite clients the opportunity to commission unique vehicles with no aesthetic or conceptual boundaries.
Although full technical specifications remain under wraps, the brand promises that Solitaire will deliver more than mere exclusivity. Rather, it will reestablish the marque’s position at the pinnacle of handcrafted automotive artistry. According to Bugatti, more information about the Brouillard and future commissions will be revealed following the official launch on August 7, 2025.
