Carnival has teamed up with adidas to launch a unique sneaker collaboration that’s as elusive as it is innovative. In celebration of the Thai streetwear label’s 15th anniversary, the brands have unveiled the Pingora Hyperturf Friends & Family edition—a trail-inspired hybrid that blends function with exclusivity. But there’s a catch: to get a pair, you’ll need to earn it by running an 8K trail course.
A hybrid design meets performance tech
The Pingora Hyperturf merges two of adidas’ rugged outdoor models. It combines the Weatherguard-covered upper of the Pingora with the Hyperturf’s high-traction sole unit, offering a sturdy build meant for demanding terrains. The sneaker boasts adiprene+ cushioning and FORMOTION technology, enhancing both comfort and stability. Dressed in a minimalist Putty Grey colourway, the design debuts as part of the “Forest Park” pack—a three-part sneaker collection honouring Carnival’s journey in streetwear and urban culture.
An 8K challenge to unlock the drop
Rather than hit shelves, the Pingora Hyperturf will debut at an invite-only trail run on August 9 at Khao Teen Kai, located in Thailand’s scenic Nakhon Nayok province. Participants will gather at the Forest Nursery Station’s Flagpole Grounds and embark on an 8-kilometre trail run starting at 7:30 AM. Designed as a test of endurance and commitment, access to the event is lottery-based, with registration conducted online and confirmations issued by August 7.
Requirements for entry are stringent: runners must wear adidas Terrex footwear, with limited loaner pairs available onsite. Additionally, participants are expected to bring hydration gear and maintain a “Good” VO₂ max rating, aligning with the event’s performance-focused ethos.
A statement on earned exclusivity
More than just a sneaker drop, the event marks a deliberate shift toward experiential and earned product releases—part of a growing trend in the sportswear world where community and authenticity outrank hype and resale. By tying access to a physical challenge, Carnival and adidas are spotlighting real trail performance, staying true to the roots of the Terrex line and Carnival’s own community-driven legacy.
This isn’t just a shoe—it’s a reward. And only those who are willing to rise to the challenge will walk away with a pair.
