Chie Nakano, a contemporary realistic artist, was born and raised in Japan, where her love for painting ignited during her formative years. It was her journey to Spain in her early 20s that profoundly influenced her artistic path. Enthralled by the country’s culture, people, and lifestyle, Chie made the decision to relocate to Madrid in 2006 to pursue her dream of becoming a professional artist.

In Madrid, Chie embarked on a path of rigorous artistic training. She studied traditional drawing and painting under the guidance of Eduardo Peña Nuñez at the esteemed Artium Peña Academy. As an active member of Madrid’s Circulo de Bellas Artes, Chie had the opportunity to further develop her skills in capturing the human figure and showcased her artwork in collective exhibitions.

Chie’s artistic journey continued in 2011 when she joined Amaya Gurpide’s private Atelier, focusing specifically on figure drawing and painting. This period of study provided her with a strong technical foundation and exposed her to the works of the 19th-century Old Masters, who became a significant source of inspiration for her current artistic style.

In 2014, Chie expanded her artistic horizons by training with Jordan Sokol, where she was introduced to the Sight-Size method. This unique approach to artistry emphasizes harmonious proportions, exquisite tonal compositions, and elegant contours, adding depth and narrative to her work.

During her free time in Madrid, Chie frequently visited the iconic el Prado Museum, sketching the masterpieces of renowned Spanish artists such as Diego Velázquez, Joaquín Sorolla, and José de Rivera.

Chie Nakano is currently based in Dubai and is an active member of Tashkeel, where she continues to pursue her artistic practice at Al Fahidi Historical District. Inspired by the diversity of Dubai, she captures the beauty of different ethnicities, cultures, and beliefs, drawing from the unique landscapes and experiences that surround her.

Chie Nakano’s artistic journey reflects her unwavering dedication to honing her skills, exploring different techniques, and finding inspiration in both the masters of the past and the vibrant present. Through her artwork, she celebrates the diversity and richness of the human experience.
