Chopard has introduced the L.U.C Grand Strike, a major milestone in the brand’s high watchmaking portfolio. The timepiece brings together three acoustic complications—Grande Sonnerie, Petite Sonnerie and minute repeater—within the manually wound Calibre L.U.C 08.03-L. This combination marks it as the most advanced chiming watch the Maison has created to date.
Encased in 43mm of 18k ethical white gold, the watch features a fully open, dial-less architecture. This design choice allows collectors to admire the 686-component movement as it operates, offering direct visibility of the striking mechanism. With a focus on transparency and craftsmanship, the L.U.C Grand Strike highlights both complexity and precision.
A Showcase of Technical Mastery and Acoustic Innovation
The timepiece carries two major certifications: the Poinçon de Genève and COSC chronometer approval. Together, they signal exceptional performance and finishing standards. The chiming system gains added resonance through proprietary sapphire crystal gongs that form part of the glass monobloc construction. As a result, the sound carries notable clarity and depth.
Chopard developed the movement entirely in-house, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to technical innovation. Each component contributes to refined acoustics, reliable energy distribution, and harmonious chiming sequences. The balance between engineering and artistry stands at the core of the watch’s appeal, ensuring it resonates with collectors who value both mechanical excellence and distinctive design.
Contemporary Aesthetics Paired With Traditional Craftsmanship
Although the movement takes center stage, the case design brings a contemporary elegance to the watch. Flowing curves and a clean silhouette complement the open structure, creating a modern interpretation of classical chiming timepieces. Interchangeable hand-sewn alligator leather straps add versatility while maintaining a luxurious touch.
The L.U.C Grand Strike is available for inquiry through the brand’s online and physical boutiques. Priced at 780,000 CHF (approximately $967,460 USD), the timepiece stands as a significant expression of Chopard’s ongoing pursuit of innovation, artisanal skill, and acoustic sophistication.
