Christopher Ward has introduced the C1 Jump Hour Mk V, and the launch marks the fifth generation of the mechanical jumping hour wristwatch series. It also revives the Calibre JJ01, which remains one of the brand’s earliest in-house complications. Because this movement powers the instantaneous jump hour function, it continues to hold special significance for the watchmaker. The JJ01 module, named after designer Johannes Jahnke, has shaped much of the brand’s technical development. In fact, its architecture supported the movement used in the celebrated C1 Bel Canto chiming watch.
Design Details and Technical Highlights
The new model arrives in a 39mm stainless steel case, and it immediately stands out due to its four layer dial construction. The watch comes in two colorways called Noon Blue and Dusk Gold. At its center, a disc stamped with concentric circles offers depth, while brushed and polished metal rings add contrast. Above them, a sapphire minute track creates a floating visual effect. Since the current hour appears at 12 o’clock through a lumed disc coated in Super-LumiNova Grade X1, the display feels bold and crisp. Additional lume elements include a Globolight ceramic ring under the sapphire track and a transparent sapphire minute hand. This hand, the brand’s first cantilevered sapphire hand, is filled with luminous pigment. Together, these choices create a vivid after dark experience that highlights both craftsmanship and innovation.
Availability and Pricing
The C1 Jump Hour Mk V is now available through the brand’s official website and selected retailers. Customers can choose the model at 2,975 USD on Italian leather straps or 3,165 USD on the Consort bracelet. Moreover, the watch’s renewed design and technical updates position it as a forward-looking addition to the collection, while still respecting the legacy of the original JJ01.
