Acclaimed artist Cleon Peterson has teamed up with Modernica to create The Divide Collection, a furniture series born from personal tragedy. In January, the Eaton Fire in Altadena, California, destroyed Peterson’s home. Now, through this collaboration, he transforms his loss into an artistic statement while raising funds to help his family rebuild.
A Limited-Edition Tribute to Strength
The collection features nine Upholstered Side Shells on Eiffel Tower Bases and an Upholstered Arm Shell Rocker, each personally signed by Peterson. True to his signature style, the designs use sharp black-and-white contrasts to reflect the struggle between destruction and resilience.
“The contrast between black and white in these designs represents the space between despair and hope, between loss and renewal,” Peterson shared. “Even in destruction, transformation is possible.”
This project highlights how art can serve as both an emotional outlet and a source of support. Every piece carries a deeper meaning, making the collection a powerful extension of Peterson’s artistic vision.
Supporting a Meaningful Cause
Beyond its artistic impact, The Divide Collection directly helps Peterson and his family recover from the fire. All proceeds will go toward their rebuilding efforts. The initiative also shows how the creative community can come together to offer support during difficult times.
Modernica, known for its craftsmanship and dedication to contemporary design, provides a platform for Peterson’s vision. The collection represents more than just furniture—it stands as a symbol of resilience and artistic endurance.
