Art Basel Hong Kong 2026 has officially opened its doors, transforming Hong Kong into a global epicenter for contemporary and modern art. Running from March 27 to March 29 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, this year’s edition delivers a sweeping survey of blue-chip mastery alongside experimental and cross-disciplinary practices.

Global heavyweights anchor the fair

At the core of the 2026 edition is a commanding presence from some of the art world’s most influential galleries. Industry leaders such as Gagosian, David Zwirner, and Almine Rech present museum-caliber booths, anchoring the fair’s international reach.

Meanwhile, Tokyo-based galleries Kaikai Kiki Gallery and Nanzuka inject a vibrant current of Japanese contemporary culture, balancing canonical fine art with pop-inflected visual language.

A dialogue across eras and mediums

The breadth of works on view underscores Art Basel Hong Kong’s curatorial ambition. Visitors encounter historic masterpieces by Pablo Picasso alongside immersive light environments by James Turrell. Conceptual practices are represented through figures such as Emilio Isgrò and Simon Fujiwara, creating a layered dialogue between past and present.

Contemporary and pop-driven energy

Leaning into contemporary and street-adjacent aesthetics, the fair also highlights futuristic metallic sculptures by Hajime Sorayama and Superflat works by Takashi Murakami. Character-driven and illustrative practices further expand the visual spectrum, with works by Yusuke Hanai, Kasing Lung, and Yoshitomo Nara drawing strong attention from collectors and audiences alike.
