Countdown begins for Dubai Festival for Youth Theatre 2022

The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has released the schedule of the theatrical performances taking place at the festival, which will take place from October 19 to October 26 at the Cultural & Scientific Association in Dubai. Dubai Culture invites all theater enthusiasts to attend this yearly youth event and enjoy thrilling performances.

“To Whom It May Concern” will play at the festival’s opening on October 19, 2022, at 7:30 p.m. (also known as “Liman Yahomoh Al Amr”). After this performance, there will be a seminar exploring the play’s themes.

The Sharjah Public Art & Modern Theater will present “The Frame,” a play written by Saud Al Zarouni, and directed by Mohammed Juma Al Darmaki, from 8 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, October 20. The play will be followed by an applied seminar from 9:10 to 9:30 p.m.

Audiences can take in a performance titled “The Last News” (also known as “Akher Khabar”) on Saturday, October 22, from 8 to 9 p.m.

Samira Ahmed, an actor, and producer, will be honored as the “Theatrical Personality of the Year” at a special event on October 23 from 7-8 pm. This will occur before the play “Dobie,” which was written by Mohammed Saleh, directed by Abdullah Al Hammdi, and produced by the Yas Theatre Group, as well as the seminar that will cover the play’s subject matter.

The drama “Story” (also known as “Qessa”), which was written by Meera Al Mheiri, directed by Abdullah Alkhaled Almheiri, and produced by Dubai Al Ahli Theater, will be performed on Monday, October 24, from 8 to 9 p.m., and another practical session will follow.

The play “When the Curtain is Raised” (Heynama Yourfaa Al Setar) written by Abdullah Al Mheiri, directed by Youssef Al-Qassab, and presented by the Dubai National Theater group, will be the festival’s final performance on Tuesday, October 25, from 8 to 9 p.m. Followed by a seminar discussing the play’s subject matter from 9:10 to 9:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, October 26, 2022, the festival’s events come to an end with the awards ceremony, during which the contributors will receive recognition for their work in different categories, such as acting, directing, writing, designing, producing, make-up, sound engineering, visual and lighting performances, and fashion design.

Dr. Habib Ghuloom, an actor, producer, and director, along with Dr. Adnan Salloum, an expert in Syrian theater arts, and the young Emirati artist Elham Mohammed, serve on the panel that decides the winners.
