The Cultural Foundation Abu Dhabi, managed by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, is set to host two stunning live music and dance shows this November that will bring the best of world culture to the emirate. Here is what you can expect to see at the Cultural Foundation next month.
Fera by Maurice Louca and UAE Musicians
Wed 2 Nov | 8pm
Music Performance
Fera is the celebrated Egyptian musician and composer Maurice Louca’s new long-form composition, picking up from where he left off in his last record, Saet El Hazz (The Luck Hour). Featuring a tapestry of microtonal guitars, violins, and percussion, this work adds more synthesizers and electronic explorations, taking it more into the acoustic/electric realm. Lebanese percussionist Khaled Yassine and Egyptian violinist Ayman Asfour will join Louca. For this very special collaboration with the Cultural Foundation, celebrating Abu Dhabi’s designation as a UNESCO ‘City of Music’, Louca will create a new rendition of this composition in collaboration with Abu Dhabi-based musicians, including an Emirati percussion ensemble and guest musicians from the South Asian community.
Elephant by Bouchra Ouizguen
Sat 19 Nov | 8pm
Contemporary Dance Performance
In Elephant, the Moroccan choreographer Bouchra Ouizguen continues the research she has been carrying out with her company for ten years around the sound, rhythm, and movement of the collective body as well as the individual. The show features four performers.
Tickets for the performances start at 100 AED. For more details, and to purchase tickets, visit culturalfoundation.ae.
A new season of live performances across music, theatre, and dance for 2023 will be announced at a later date.
