Since launching in 2012, Scandinavian travel gear brand Db has made it its mission to develop superior travel solutions tailored to athletes, adventurers, and discerning explorers. Its latest innovation—the Weigh Lighter collection—embodies that ethos more than ever before. Comprising five new bag models, the line introduces a pioneering material named Graflyte, a mono-composite fabric developed in collaboration with ALUULA, which delivers unprecedented performance across both strength and weight.
Graflyte boasts a strength-to-weight ratio eight times greater than steel while maintaining a soft nylon texture. It is waterproof, UV-resistant, and recyclable, making it not only resilient but also sustainable. According to Db, this next-generation material was crucial in crafting their most technically advanced product line to date.
Db Introduces Graflyte-Driven Innovation for Adventure Travelers
As a rising global name in premium travel gear, Db recently attracted investment from LVMH’s Luxury Ventures Fund, signaling its growing influence and innovation potential. The Weigh Lighter collection is a milestone moment, blending high performance with forward-thinking design.
“This collection represents a new chapter for the brand,” said Vincent Laine, Db’s Creative Director, in an interview with Hypebeast. Laine, formerly of Leica and the designer behind its Q and Q2 cameras, emphasized that the project “carved new lanes” in creative thinking. The development process, which spanned over a year, involved rigorous experimentation with fabric configurations to achieve the optimal blend of durability, functionality, and aesthetic appeal.
Laine explained that the Graflyte material challenged conventional assumptions: “There was no guarantee this would work—we just had to believe in it together.”
Five Lightweight Bags Designed for Performance, Transparency, and Sustainability
The Weigh Lighter series includes four bags and a reimagined version of Db’s signature Snow Roller, each highlighting the capabilities of Graflyte:
- Weigh Lighter Sling: A versatile shoulder or waist bag with 10L capacity and a featherweight build of just 138g.
- Weigh Lighter Backpack: A 25L “mountaineering” model with a roll-top and dual-zipper access, weighing 470g.
- Weigh Lighter Split Duffel: A 70L large-capacity bag weighing 1.3kg, updating one of Db’s most popular models.
- Weigh Lighter Helmet Bag: A 32L multipurpose carryall, ideal for ski and snowboard helmets.
- Weigh Lighter Snow Roller Pro: A 127L, compressible, length-adjustable ski and snowboard bag—claimed to be the first of its kind—at just 2.4kg, 50% lighter than the original.
The collection also leverages Graflyte’s translucent property, offering a unique visual aesthetic. Panels and pockets have been strategically designed for visibility where needed, while opaque compartments ensure privacy. Laine explained how Db used translucency not just for function but as a design language, embedding structural elements beneath the material and turning traditionally hidden components—like recycled foam—into visual highlights.
Aurora-Inspired Campaign Captures the Spirit of Discovery in Norway’s North Cape
To capture the essence of this innovative collection, Db traveled to Nordkapp (North Cape)—Europe’s northernmost point—above the Arctic Circle. The dramatic, all-white terrain provided an ideal backdrop to reflect the ethereal, futuristic tone of the Weigh Lighter series. The campaign’s color theme, Aurora, is mirrored in the collection’s purple and lime green accents.
“Translucency often implies weakness, but in this case, it’s the most durable fabric we’ve ever used,” Laine said. “It felt like we were cheating physics.” He added that on the final night of their shoot, the team witnessed the Northern Lights—“closing the circle” and tying the natural phenomenon back to the collection’s vision.
With Weigh Lighter, Db doesn’t just introduce new products—it redefines the potential of travel gear through cutting-edge material science and inspired design. The entire collection is now available globally through Db’s official website and selected retail partners.
