Oblong Contemporary Art Gallery is once again taking part in the 2023 exhibition event titled “Tales Under the Gate,” which is the second edition of the DIFC Sculpture Park. The park, located at the Dubai International Financial Centre, has been transformed into a stunning contemporary sculpture park, making it one of Dubai’s most beautiful destinations.
The initiative receives support from Oblong Contemporary Art Gallery, a prominent art gallery situated on Dubai’s Bluewaters Island. The gallery has installed artworks from three of its own artists – Antonio Signorini, Gianfranco Meggiato, and Michelangelo Bastiani.
Oblong’s Gallerist Paola Marucci selected three artists to showcase their work in the exhibition, each representing the contemporary sculpture world with distinct themes and artistic styles. Their pieces display remarkable creative intensity and inherent beauty.
DIFC Sculpture Park is exhibiting Antonio Signorini’s two white flying horses. At the same time, Oblong Contemporary Gallery, in partnership with the city of Florence, is hosting a major solo exhibition of Signorini’s work in the most enchanting squares of the historical center of Florence, Italy.
At DIFC Sculpture Park, Meggiato showcases a gilded bronze sculpture named Shell Sphere, featuring a central sphere symbolizing the pursuit of peace and harmony in the intricate yet valuable fabric of life. Meggiato has also recently displayed his artwork at Piazza dei Miracoli in Pisa, Italy, which is known for the Leaning Tower, one of the ancient world’s seven wonders.
Bastiani’s sculptures and installations use unique materials and interactive holograms and video projections on LED screens to delve into the concept of liquidity. At DIFC, Bastiani has displayed three works, Earth and air in your steps, Cloud in the desert, and Trail, which exemplify the artist’s different fields of exploration. Bastiani has showcased his art in several global locations such as Rome, Venice, Milan, Frankfurt, London, Istanbul, New York, and Miami.
Marucci expressed her happiness about participating in the significant event that highlights sculpture. Being part of the exhibition for the second time contributes to its success and promotes it to a larger and growing audience. She hopes that this edition will attract even more people than before.
