Under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Authority announced that during February and March, the Dubai Art Season (DAS) 2022 will host a unique mix of artistic and cultural events.
The theme for this year’s edition is ‘Take a Walk on the Art Side,’ which will transform Dubai into an ‘open art display’ that enables citizens, residents, and visitors to enjoy outstanding experiences. The presence of artists from the UAE, the region, and around the world at these events is expected to add to the emirate’s burgeoning cultural scene.
DAS 2022 will host a two-month-long arts and cultural festival, which will kick off with the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature, which will take place at Al Habtoor City Hotels from 3 to 13 February in conjunction with Dubai Culture. The Festival will begin with an ‘Emirati Cultural Day,’ which will highlight the diversity of Emirati literature.
The world’s greatest exposition and cultural gathering, Expo 2020 Dubai, will host a number of artistic and cultural events. In the Poland pavilion of the show, teenage pianists will resurrect the works of the late Polish artist Frederic Chopin, while the Digital Art Wall in the New Zealand Pavilion will allow visitors to choose and comment on one of 120 New Zealand artworks that will be put on the wall. At The Jamjar Gallery on Alserkal Avenue, the Hammour House brings together fishers, scientists, artists, and 3,000 students to create a community artwork.
The Sikka Art and Design Festival 2022, one of Dubai Culture’s flagship initiatives, will celebrate creativity and aesthetic excellence across various art forms, including visual arts, theater, music, film, and singing, with the participation of emerging talent from the UAE and GCC, from March 15 to 24 in the Al Fahidi Historical Neighborhood.
Art Dubai, the Middle East’s biggest international art market, which shows contemporary and modern art from around the world, is also on the Season’s schedule. The event, which will bring art lovers from all over the world to Dubai, will include a variety of workshops, lectures, and activities in Madinat Jumeirah from March 11 to 13. This year’s exhibition includes a special section dedicated to the world.
