Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has revealed two vibrant murals in the Al Quoz Creative Zone as part of the ongoing Dubai Public Art Strategy. The new installations are designed to enrich community life, turning public spaces into immersive art experiences and further cementing Dubai’s position as a global cultural hub.
Female artists reimagine Al Quoz’s dynamic identity
Created by three women artists, the murals capture the essence of Al Quoz’s diverse, energetic spirit. Egyptian muralist Rabab Tantawy’s Vibrant Voices of Al Quoz, painted on the façade of Aramtec, depicts the lively culture of the district. Her artwork showcases traditional Arabic coffee pots, spice markets, lanterns, and distinctive regional architecture including arches and domes — all rendered in a style that reflects the multicultural vibrancy of the area.
Emirati artist Hend Al Murid, in collaboration with Syrian artist Dina Saadi, created Wonder Windows on the exterior of the WooHoo children’s museum. Their large-scale piece invites visitors into a colourful world of imagination. It features childhood symbols such as the Hudhud bird, the dallah (a local coffee pot), and traditional Emirati motifs, blending nostalgia with a sense of playful curiosity.
Al Quoz Creative Zone as a cultural incubator
Shaima Rashid Al Suwaidi, CEO of the Arts, Design & Literature Sector at Dubai Culture, noted that the new works are part of a broader initiative to shape Dubai into an open-air museum that inspires creativity and empowers emerging talent.
She stated, “The murals are a welcome addition to the Al Quoz Creative Zone, an area known for sparking fresh ideas and giving young talent the space to realise their ambitions. Dubai Culture remains committed to fostering creativity and encouraging artists to capture the spirit of the UAE in their own unique ways.”
Strategy supports local talent and tourism
Mozah Lootah, Dubai Public Art Project Manager, emphasised the initiative’s dual mission: empowering local creatives and transforming urban spaces into destinations for cultural tourism.
“The Dubai Public Art Strategy provides a framework to support and empower local creatives, enabling them to express their perspectives by turning our neighbourhoods, squares, and public spaces into cultural destinations,” she explained. “These artworks foster interactive dialogue between artists and audiences, while also contributing to the growth of tourism in Dubai.”
With the addition of these murals, Al Quoz continues to evolve as a leading centre for creativity, offering residents and visitors alike a meaningful encounter with the cultural soul of Dubai.
