Dubai Culture and Arts Authority has announced an open call for its new “Creative Spaces” initiative, a programme designed to provide free multi-purpose workspaces for Dubai’s expanding creative sector. The initiative forms part of the Creative Sector Resilience Portfolio launched by Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The programme aims to strengthen Dubai’s position as a regional hub for art, design, and cultural production. At the same time, it responds to increasing demand for accessible creative infrastructure among independent practitioners, students, and emerging businesses operating across the UAE’s cultural economy.

“OPEN CALL | ‘Creative Spaces’ initiative”

Developed in collaboration with public and private sector partners, the initiative will offer selected participants access to flexible work environments intended to support artistic development, project production, and professional networking. Consequently, the programme reflects broader efforts across Dubai’s cultural sector to expand long-term support systems for creative professionals.

Initiative Targets Artists, Designers, and Small Creative Businesses

The open call specifically invites creatives, arts and design students, and small businesses working within the cultural and creative industries. In addition, participants will have opportunities to host workshops, collaborate with peers, and establish professional relationships within Dubai’s growing design ecosystem.

“As part of the Creative Sector Resilience Portfolio launched by our Chairperson, Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, we are offering free, multi-purpose workspaces to empower Dubai’s creative community, in collaboration with key public and private sector partners.”

The initiative arrives as Dubai continues to invest heavily in cultural infrastructure, creative entrepreneurship, and design-led economic development. Moreover, citywide programmes increasingly focus on supporting early-career talent and independent studios working across architecture, visual arts, product design, fashion, and digital media.

Applicants selected for the programme will gain access to collaborative environments intended to encourage experimentation and interdisciplinary exchange. Therefore, the initiative aligns with broader regional efforts to cultivate sustainable creative communities while expanding opportunities for local practitioners.

Deadline Set for 30 May 2026

The programme also highlights the growing role of public-private partnerships within the UAE’s creative economy. By combining institutional support with industry collaboration, Dubai continues to position cultural development as a central component of its economic diversification strategy.

“If you’re a creative, small business, or student in arts and design, this is your chance to develop projects, host workshops, build professional connections, and grow your practice.”

Applications for the “Creative Spaces” initiative remain open until late May. Furthermore, the programme is expected to attract interest from a broad cross-section of Dubai’s art and design community, particularly emerging creatives seeking affordable access to professional workspace and industry networks.

“Application DEADLINE: 23:59 UAE time on Saturday, 30 May 2026.”
