Emirati Artist: In a time when art and music have become essential for solace and reflection, acclaimed Emirati artist and designer Ashwaq Abdulla has introduced a pioneering digital art exhibition titled “Al Mabrouka.” This virtual showcase, a first of its kind in the region, is available on YouTube and features 10 of Abdulla’s paintings, each inspired by the rich history and culture of Emirati society.
The exhibition pays homage to the “Al Mabrouka,” a term used to honor elderly Emirati women known for their wisdom and generosity. Abdulla’s artwork captures the essence of these revered figures, offering a window into the lives and cultural heritage of the Emirati people.
Reflecting on the launch of her digital exhibition, Abdulla expressed her long-held aspiration to blend her artwork with modern technology. “My dream has always been to bring my artwork to life through movement. In this exhibition, I was finally able to integrate my love for paintings with modern-day technology and artificial intelligence,” she said.
The innovative fusion of culture, art, and science in Abdulla’s work invites viewers to explore the deeper meanings behind each piece.
UAE director and composer Muhammad Al-Ahmad has composed music to accompany the exhibition’s paintings, adding a unique auditory dimension to the visual experience. The combination of visual art and music enhances the understanding of the role Emirati women have played in shaping society over generations.
Abdulla highlighted the boundless nature of digital exhibitions, noting that “The beauty of a digital exhibition is that it has no limits, similar to art. ‘Al Mabrouka’ can be seen from anywhere and anytime around the world.” She further emphasized the cultural significance of the exhibition’s collaboration with Muhammad Al-Ahmad, stating that it brings an additional UAE flavor to the project, making it accessible and enjoyable for art enthusiasts worldwide.
