Emon Surakitkoson, born in 1985 in Thailand, is an artist who has left an indelible mark on the art scene since her immigration to the United States at the age of 19. Currently residing in the Washington, DC and Baltimore area, she has become renowned for her captivating drawings and paintings that delve into themes of minimalism and abstraction. Through her art, Emon has developed a unique and distinct artistic voice that transcends language barriers, allowing for profound communication and expression that transcends both English and her native Thai.

Embracing a deep fascination with research, techniques, tools, and compositional ideas, Emon Surakitkoson challenges and counters assumptions and prejudices based on attributes like gender, size, and race. Her artistic process is bold and empowering, often working on a large scale and employing various tools, utilizing her body as a motive force, and leaving a signature touch that sets her apart.

In addition to her focus on fine art, Emon’s artistry extends into the commercial realm, where she has collaborated with esteemed clients such as Kimpton Hotel, Marriott International Headquarters, Hyatt Regency Hotel, and American Express.

Beyond her art practice, Emon remains actively engaged in her local community, mentoring school students in art through collaborations with local organizations. She has also played a pivotal role in organizing events and markets that support and uplift local artists and makers around the DC area, partnering with prominent entities like the Hilton brothers’ H2 Collective, Strathmore, and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

Emon Surakitkoson’s artistic journey is a testament to her relentless passion for creativity and her commitment to empowering others through art. Her work transcends boundaries and inspires meaningful connections, leaving a lasting impact on both the art world and her community.
