As winter intensifies, Engineered Garments has renewed its collaboration with Helsinki-based footwear label Tarvas for a third release. This latest project reflects a continued focus on seasonal utility while pushing further into comfort-led design. As a result, the partnership signals a measured evolution rather than a radical departure from past collaborations.
Product and Design
Engineered Garments designer Daiki Suzuki has reworked Tarvas’s Wanderer into a slip-on silhouette intended for cold-weather versatility. Instead of laces, the shoe relies on ease of wear and faux fur uppers for insulation. The limited-edition model arrives in three variations: leopard print, black, and an extra-plush gray fur option.
Manufactured in Portugal, the shoe retains Tarvas’s signature mudguard, which wraps the entire upper to enhance protection against wet conditions. Meanwhile, a low-profile Vibram rubber sole delivers traction and durability without detracting from the bold upper. Consequently, the design balances functional performance with a refined, casual aesthetic.
Partnership Context and Availability
The collaboration builds on a relationship that began in 2019 with a suede explorer model and continued in 2023 with the Forest Bather. Compared with earlier releases, this iteration leans more heavily into relaxed, everyday wear. Accordingly, the lace-free construction and hybrid sensibility mark a clear shift toward lifestyle-focused utility.
The Engineered Garments x Tarvas Wanderer is now available through the Tarvas and Nepenthes webstores, positioning the release squarely within the current winter retail cycle.
