On February 12, the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment joined the world’s fair personnel and officials for a tree-planting ceremony at Expo 2020 Dubai to commemorate the 25th National Environment Day.
Other participants from different other Expo pavilions joined in the plantation drive, which was themed ‘The UAE’s Message to the World –Climate Action Now.’
During the drive, local and native plants such as the Ghaf, Sidr, and Acacia were planted at the Expo 2020 Dubai Plant Nursery. Planting these native trees was both a practical and symbolic step toward increasing awareness of the region’s importance of green cover.
“As we commemorate our 25th National Environment Day, we send a strong message to the world that collective action is the best way to address all challenges that face us in order to protect our environment and build a better future,” Mariam Al Mheiri, Minister of Climate Change and Environment and Minister of State for Food Security, said.
While Expo 2020 Dubai will close at the end of March, National Environment Day festivities will take place across the UAE until June 5, World Environment Day.
