Japanese denim innovator FDMTL reunites with Vans for a fresh capsule under the new OTW by Vans line. Set to release on May 30, the collaboration revamps the Old Skool 36 and Half Cab 33 with FDMTL’s signature sashiko-inspired aesthetic, this time trading denim for modern knit textiles and elevated construction.
Sashiko Inspiration Meets OTW Innovation
FDMTL’s creative reinterpretation of traditional Japanese sashiko stitching has long made its way into Vans silhouettes, and this latest partnership deepens that legacy. The new footwear capsule marks the first time FDMTL collaborates through OTW by Vans, the brand’s elevated offshoot focused on craftsmanship and storytelling.
Previewed during FDMTL’s Spring/Summer 2025 presentation, the capsule includes two sneakers in shades of indigo blue with off-white detailing, simulating the appearance of hand-stitched patchwork. The Old Skool 36 and Half Cab 33 both feature knit textile uppers, diverging from the denim used in previous iterations. Each model incorporates the classic Jazz Stripe, OTW branding on the heel, and co-branded sockliners for a cohesive finish.
Release Details and Availability
While an official campaign has yet to be announced, select retailers such as BSTN have begun preparing product pages. The sneakers will release globally on May 30 with retail prices set at $135 USD for the Old Skool 36 and $140 USD for the Half Cab 33. With interest already building around the collection’s distinctive fusion of Japanese craft and skate heritage, the drop is expected to sell out quickly.
Fans of FDMTL’s detailed textile work and Vans’ timeless silhouettes will find this collaboration a standout addition to their spring footwear lineup.
