The “Feathers & Thoughts” exhibition was launched by Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, cultural advisor to the president of the UAE, in the presence of Dr. Ali bin Tamim, head of the Arabic Language Centre at the Department of Culture and Tourism-Abu Dhabi.
Antoine Delcourt, the Belgian ambassador to the UAE, Robert Lauer, the Luxembourg ambassador to the UAE and the representative of the French Embassy in Abu Dhabi, Sultan Al Hajji, the president of the Alliance Française d’Abu Dhabi, Franck Trouilloud, the director of the Alliance Française d’Abu Dhabi, Saeed Hamdan Al Tunaiji, the acting executive director of the ALC, as well as a large group of businessmen, students, and culture and art enthusiasts
“We are pleased that this innovative exhibition, which has been conceived as a crossroad where the most profound forms of expression intersect in an innovative and intercultural spirit, highlighted the depth of intercultural relations between the Emirates and France,” said Nusseibeh on this occasion. The Alliance Française Abu Dhabi, which has been operating for almost 50 years, has demonstrated its capacity to foster these illustrious brotherly ties and create links between the Middle East and Europe, facilitating the successful fusion of Arab and Western cultures.
Through ideas that link a picture with a concept and specific letters with ideas, the artist Ayman Bazerbashe has been successful in exhibiting Arabic Islamic calligraphy. The selected quotations, which encompass logic and philanthropy, hope and despair, happiness, modesty, and morality and comprise wisdom heritage idioms and words that contribute to the preservation of the Arabic language, belonged to numerous philosophers in the Middle East and even beyond.
According to Trouilloud, “the philosophical-calligraphic magic started a few months ago when I discovered the creative work of Ayman Bazerbashe, a calligraphy artist who lives in Dubai, inspired by a work based on a maxim written by Plato in the context of an ancient dialogue: “Wisdom begins in wonder.”
From January 31st, 2023, the “Feathers & Thoughts or The World’s Soul” exhibition will be on display at Alliance Française Abu Dhabi. The exhibition is a philosophical and calligraphic cultural display that is meant to appeal to people of all ages, as well as art lovers, language learners, those who are just inquisitive, and those who are familiar with French Alliances around the world. Along with it, there will be calligraphy classes and an instructional pamphlet.
