Danish design house Fredericia has reintroduced one of Nanna Ditzel’s most celebrated works — the Bench for Two — at this year’s 3daysofdesign festival. Originally launched in 1989, the sculptural bench makes its return with new vibrant colourways, reaffirming Ditzel’s status as a pioneering voice in modern furniture design.
A Contemporary Tribute to a Danish Masterpiece
Fredericia, in collaboration with A. Petersen, has faithfully reissued the original black version of the bench while unveiling three new colours: red, yellow and pink. These updated finishes pay homage to Ditzel’s love for expressive colour and dynamic form.

The bench’s defining feature — a bold graphic backrest with concentric circles and a red centre dot — emerged from a spontaneous sketch Ditzel once made on a prototype. Her intuitive design process continues to inspire, with the new editions capturing both her playfulness and precision.
Inspired by Nature, Built with Craft
Taking cues from the symmetry of butterfly wings, the bench offers both ergonomic comfort and sculptural elegance. Crafted from solid maple and veneer, it stands as a fusion of technical achievement and artistic expression. An optional companion table, designed to mirror the bench’s angles, completes the intimate arrangement.
Fredericia’s relaunch reflects a continued commitment to timeless design and local craftsmanship. The Bench for Two, along with its matching table, is priced at €8,000 EUR (excluding VAT) and is available exclusively through Fredericia.
With its renewed presence, this reissue invites a new generation to experience Ditzel’s vision — one that blends function, form, and emotion in a single, beautifully crafted piece.
