This July, Geneva will welcome UEFA Women’s Euro 2025, an event expected to attract nearly 100,000 fans. Alongside the matches, the city is preparing a vibrant programme of activities designed to celebrate women’s sports and engage visitors from the Gulf and beyond.

Upgrades and Engagement for a Premier Event

To ensure a top-class experience, the Stade de Genève Foundation is investing CHF 4.1 million in modernising the stadium facilities. This funding, provided by the canton, aims to raise the venue’s standards to meet UEFA’s requirements and enhance visitor comfort. Meanwhile, the City of Geneva is setting up a Sports Village at Quai Gustave Ador, which will host live demonstrations, athlete meet-and-greets, and interactive sessions to promote women’s sports and inspire younger generations. Close by, a Fan Zone on Quai Général-Guisan will offer free entry to live match broadcasts, entertainment, and dining options from 2 to 27 July 2025, creating a lively hub for fans.

Driving Social Impact and Youth Participation

Beyond the excitement on the pitch, organisers are focused on lasting social change. The collaboration between the WEURO Geneva 2025 Association and the AGS also aims to increase women’s representation in sports committees to 40% by 2026, through the #ChangeonsLaDonne campaign. This initiative highlights Geneva’s commitment to empowering women and encouraging youth involvement in sports across the region.

Discovering Geneva’s Cultural and Natural Treasures

Visitors can also complement the tournament experience with Geneva’s rich cultural and recreational offerings. The city’s lakeside activities include water sports, views of the iconic Jet d’Eau, and scenic cruises aboard the historic Belle Epoque steamboat. For those preferring to stay on dry land, Geneva’s parks provide peaceful retreats. The Botanical Garden invites leisurely strolls, while Parc de la Perle du Lac offers calm lakeside relaxation. Parc la Grange, overlooking the harbour, is ideal for an ice cream break before visiting one of the city’s famed chocolate shops. Additionally, museums and guided tours reveal Geneva’s fascinating history. The City Pass simplifies access, offering free or discounted entry to numerous attractions.
