Goldwin has launched its Spring/Summer 2025 Paper Fiber Collection, offering a series of breathable garments crafted with natural Manila hemp (abaca) and enhanced by KODENSHI® fiber technology. Designed to provide a cool, dry touch ideal for humid climates, the collection blends traditional materials with cutting-edge innovation under Goldwin’s Re-Optimum concept, which prioritises comfort and recovery.
At the heart of the SS25 collection is Goldwin’s unique paper yarn, spun from abaca fibers historically used in the Philippines for tropical clothing. These garments—including shirts, jackets, trousers, shorts, and socks—are engineered for summer performance, pairing timeless comfort with modern design sensibilities.
Traditional Hemp Meets KODENSHI® Performance
Each piece in the collection integrates KODENSHI®, a textile innovation that embeds ultra-fine ceramic particles within the fibers. These particles absorb and reflect far-infrared radiation naturally emitted by the human body, supporting body temperature regulation and promoting relaxation. The technology is the result of over 30 years of scientific research led by Dr. Norinaga Shimizu of Osaka Prefecture University, a specialist in environmental adaptation and sleep science.
Goldwin’s design approach maintains a balance between technical performance and style. Everyday staples include neutral-toned loungewear, while more tailored options—such as a brown checked shirt and a solid brown day suit—offer elevated summer style. For added layering, a beige zip-up jacket with a subtle Goldwin emblem near the collar delivers lightweight versatility. The collection is completed with Paper Fiber socks, the brand’s first product made from paper yarn, celebrated for their all-day dry and comfortable wear.
A Future-Facing Take on Ancient Craft
Goldwin’s use of Manila hemp, rooted in Indigenous Filipino textile traditions, bridges the gap between ancestral knowledge and contemporary fashion. Once used across the archipelago for its breathable properties, abaca now finds new life in Goldwin’s performance-focused garments, adapted for modern climates and lifestyles.
The SS25 Paper Fiber Collection is now available at Goldwin Japan’s web store and through select global retailers.
