Gordon Murray Special Vehicles (GMSV) introduced its first commission, the S1 LM, during Monterey Car Week 2025. This limited-edition supercar, restricted to only five units, serves as a road-legal homage to Murray’s 1995 Le Mans triumph. It blends lightweight engineering with a design philosophy focused on purity and performance.
The car’s exterior showcases a lowered roofline, full carbon-fiber bodywork, and Le Mans-inspired aerodynamics. These include a front splitter, a diffuser, and a dual-element rear wing. At the heart of the S1 LM lies a bespoke 4.3-liter V12 engine producing over 690 horsepower, revving to an astonishing 12,100 rpm. This powertrain pairs with a manual gearbox derived from the T.50s and features an Inconel exhaust wrapped in 18-karat gold shielding, delivering both responsiveness and a distinctive race-bred tone.
Focused on Driving Purity
Inside, the central driving position dominates a minimalist cockpit crafted from lightweight materials, reinforcing Murray’s vision of “engineering art.” Custom suspension geometry, bespoke dampers, and a solid-mounted engine enhance precision and driver engagement. Professor Gordon Murray described the S1 LM as “timeless and beautiful,” emphasizing balance and proportion over extreme styling. All five cars are already reserved, with first deliveries anticipated in 2026.
