Gucci has revealed that it will unveil its Cruise 2026 collection on May 15, at the brand’s historic Florence Brand Archive located in Palazzo Settimanni. The showcase will be designed by the house’s internal team, as Demna prepares for his highly anticipated debut as Creative Director. The event underscores Gucci’s commitment to blending its rich heritage with a forward-thinking vision.
The Palazzo Settimanni, a 15th-century building situated in the Oltrarno district of Florence, has been integral to Gucci’s history since its acquisition in 1953. It was converted into the Gucci Archive in 2021, after serving as the brand’s factory, showroom, and original workshop throughout the years. The location is symbolic of Gucci’s legacy and cultural roots, making it the ideal venue for this significant collection reveal.
A Celebration of Gucci’s Legacy and Future
Stefano Cantino, CEO of Gucci, emphasized the significance of returning to Florence and hosting the collection at the brand’s archive. “Returning to Florence — and specifically to Palazzo Settimanni — is both a tribute and a declaration of intent,” he said. “The archive is not merely a repository of our past; it is a living space where Gucci’s identity codes are preserved and reinterpreted through an ongoing dialogue. Presenting the Cruise 2026 collection here reaffirms our bond with the cultural and artisanal heritage that defines us, while projecting it into the future with coherence and ambition.”
This event marks a pivotal moment for the brand, as it transitions from the leadership of Sabato De Sarno, who left in February, to the arrival of Demna, whose debut collection will be presented at Gucci’s next major show. Demna is currently preparing for his final Balenciaga show in July, after which he will take the creative reins at Gucci.
A Historic Venue for Gucci’s Visionary Future
Gucci’s decision to showcase its Cruise 2026 collection in a venue tied so closely to its origins represents a merging of tradition and innovation. The Palazzo Settimanni, with its centuries-old walls, will serve as a backdrop to the house’s future-focused direction under Demna’s leadership, setting the stage for what’s to come from the iconic brand.
