Guy Bourdin, a renowned photographer recognized for his unique blend of realistic and surrealistic imagery, is often referred to as an artistic rebel and disruptor who has created works of high art. He has worked with several leading fashion magazines, including Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, and luxury brands like Chanel and Charles Jourdan.
For the first time in the Middle East, a collection of his iconic images is being displayed at That Concept store, a popular destination for contemporary lifestyle, luxury, and fashion in Mall of the Emirates. The exhibition, curated in partnership with ap8.art e-commerce platform, showcases Bourdin’s innovative approach to contemporary photography, incorporating elements of surrealism, documentary photography, sensuality, and playfulness, ranging from cheerful to dark.
Bourdin’s work has been exhibited at the Tate Modern, the Victoria and Albert Museum, The Getty Museum, The National Art Museum of China and The Toyko Metropolitan Museum of Art, among others. Works presented at That Concept Store are available in limited edition prints via That Concept and ap8.art.
“It has been a dream of mine to bring this sumptuous exhibition to the Middle East. There is no better place than THAT to showcase the artworks of the iconic Guy Bourdin—the photographer who was responsible for elevating fashion photography to an art form,” stated says Viola Raikhel, Curator, and co-founder, ap8.art. “This curated and framed collection is going to transform the home of collectors in Dubai and beyond.”
