At Milan Design Week, the Maison departs from its heritage tones to explore modernist color and geometric design in a striking new exhibit.
Hermès has revealed its 2025 home collection at Milan Design Week with an imaginative presentation unlike any before. Returning to La Pelota, the Maison collaborated once again with home creative directors Charlotte Macaux Perelman and Alexis Fabry. This year, they transformed the space into a surreal, almost otherworldly installation.
Rather than leaning into its traditional aesthetic, Hermès embraced vibrant colors and modernist inspiration. The exhibition features a series of suspended, glowing alcoves in stark white surroundings, giving the entire setup a dreamlike atmosphere. Each alcove showcases a curated selection of home pieces — ranging from furniture and dinnerware to soft textiles — all infused with rich hues and geometric design.
Modernist Echoes in Color and Form
The standout items in the collection blend luxury with a bold artistic language. Spanish designer Tomás Alonso contributed translucent side tables inspired by Piet Mondrian’s iconic color-blocked artwork. Rendered in jewel tones, they reflect a fresh, abstract edge.
A new cashmere throw by artist Amer Musa offers another highlight. Its multicolor grid and large circular motifs reference the 20th-century abstract and Bauhaus movements. Additionally, a variety of home objects, including vases and baskets, continue the geometric narrative. These pieces also incorporate a mix of leathers, a subtle nod to Hermès’ storied tradition in leather craftsmanship.
For those seeking refined elegance, a 33-piece porcelain tableware set balances innovation with classic influence. Featuring repeating geometric patterns, the collection pays homage to the elegance of Art Deco design.
A Bold Departure from Tradition
This year’s display sharply contrasts with Hermès’ 2024 installation, which focused on organic materials like brick, stone, and wood. That previous exhibit highlighted natural textures under dim lighting, reinforcing the brand’s roots. However, after celebrating a decade at the helm of Hermès’ home division, Perelman and Fabry have pivoted to a more forward-thinking vision for 2025.
The new immersive environment presents Hermès home offerings in a refreshed, modern light — one that embraces color, abstraction, and the joy of reinterpretation.
The Hermès 2025 home collection will remain on view at La Pelota (via Palermo 10, Milan) through Sunday, April 13, 2025.
