HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE has introduced the CIOCCOLATO lace-up shoe as a design-led footwear release that prioritizes sculptural form over conventional styling cues.
The silhouette draws direct inspiration from the surface and segmentation of a chocolate bar, translating that reference into a sharply defined yet softened toe structure. In particular, the front profile combines an oblique toe line—running from the big toe toward the little toe—with a chiseled edge, creating a distinctive geometric footprint. In addition, a concealed fly-front lace system reduces visible hardware, reinforcing a clean, architectural appearance. The upper is finished in matte materials to emphasize the shoe’s carved lines, while the squared outsole edge frames the profile in a way that mirrors chocolate-bar segmentation.
From a design positioning standpoint, the model reflects the broader minimal and material-focused philosophy associated with Issey Miyake. Accordingly, external branding remains deliberately restrained, allowing proportion, surface and construction to define the visual identity.
The CIOCCOLATO arrives in three colorways—Vanilla, Dark Cacao and Black—each named to reference the tonal range of chocolate. The shoes are priced at ¥44,000 JPY (approximately $282 USD) and release on March 4 through Issey Miyake retail channels.
