From September 28 to October 3, Christie’s Middle East and North Africa has scheduled a new public exhibition featuring a number of significant pieces of art from various upcoming auctions taking place at Christie’s Dubai.

The exhibition, which will be held in DIFC, will feature a number of outstanding lots, including artwork, paintings, and carpets.

The “Art of the Islamic and Indian Worlds including Oriental Rugs and Carpets” auction is one of the exhibition’s centerpieces. The first piece is a remarkably rare Royal Mughal Pashmina carpet from Northern India in the 17th century. A piece of Iznik pottery from The Victor Adda Collection, a collector based in New York, is another item of importance.

The collection also includes a significant number of Old Master and European paintings. These include “Portrait of Henrietta Maria” by Sir Anthony van Dyck, who served as King Charles I of Britain’s “Principal Painter” from 1632 until 1636.

A number of equestrian paintings are on display, representing the region’s intense love of riding in all its manifestations, including a piece by French artist Theodore Gericault and a racing scene by British master Sir Alfred James Munnings.

The major pieces meticulously chosen for Christie’s Dubai’s exhibition reflect the discriminating tastes of collectors from the MENA area, who value the highest quality, artistry, and exceptional workmanship embodied by these works across categories. The opportunity to debut these pieces in Dubai is a wonderful honor, according to Arne Everwijn, director of business development for the Middle East and North Africa.
